Privacy Policy

Braised ("we," "us") is a personal recipe library and cooking tracker. This page explains what information we collect, why, and who we share it with. Braised is run by a single developer as a small, early-stage product — if anything here is unclear, email support@braised.app.

Information we collect

Account info. When you sign in, we receive your email address (email sign-in), or your name, email address, and profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple — only what that provider shares with us, and only with your consent through their own sign-in screen.

Recipe content. Recipes, photos, notes, cook session logs, ratings, and shopping lists you create or import are stored in your library so the app can show them back to you.

Recipes you send us. If you email a recipe to your personal Braised inbox address, forward it from a recipe website, or use the browser extension to save one, we receive that content (email body/attachments, page content, or photos) in order to parse it into your library.

Payment info. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number.

Technical info. Standard request data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) is processed transiently by our hosting and security providers to serve pages, protect sign-in from automated abuse, and diagnose errors.

How we use it

To operate your account and library, parse recipes you submit (including using AI to structure recipe text, photos, or voice recordings into ingredients/steps), process subscription payments, send sign-in and account-related email, protect the app from bots and abuse, and fix bugs. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your recipe content to train third-party AI models beyond the single request needed to parse it.

Third parties we work with

These providers process data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security terms:

  • Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication.
  • Google / Apple — if you choose to sign in with one of these, per their own privacy policies.
  • Postmark — sends and receives account and recipe-related email.
  • Groq / Anthropic — process recipe text, photos, or voice recordings you submit, solely to extract structured recipe data.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments.
  • Cloudflare — bot/abuse protection on sign-in and email routing for our support address.
  • Vercel — hosting, and aggregated, privacy-friendly usage/performance analytics.
  • Sentry — error monitoring, so we can find and fix bugs.

Your choices

You can edit or delete individual recipes, notes, and library items yourself at any time. To request a copy of your data, or deletion of your account and associated data, email support@braised.app and we'll take care of it.

Children

Braised is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
